Oclean X10: test / review

Published on: 09-07-2022 / Modified: 22-07-2022

Oclean is a Chinese brand specializing in oral hygiene with electric toothbrushes as its flagship product. I tested my first Oclean toothbrush a little over a year ago and this toothbrush was their most high-end model (Oclean Elite X Pro), the following models were therefore necessarily less attractive but with a lower price. Today I'm going to test the Oclean X10 which is more on the high end but you have to see this model as a simplified version of the Elite version with a few small differences.

Where to buy?

Oclean distributes its products through its Oclean.com site where you will get the best price as well as the possibility of ordering additional accessories such as new brushes for example.

The Oclean X10 is marketed at just over 100€:

Unboxing

Toothbrushes are not very sophisticated products, so the packaging is simple and contains the bare minimum. The box contains the handle, the brush, a magnetic support to carry the handle, a USB C charging cable and a manual. The magnetic holder can be attached to the wall with double-sided or simply adhere to a metal surface. There is no longer a charging station as with the previous model, charging is done via USB.

The Oclean X10 deviates a little from the premium and formal aspect of the Elite version but that does not mean that it is a bad thing, I find that this brush is quite aesthetic. Beyond the purely aesthetic aspect, this Oclean X10 differs from the Elite version on a number of other points. It is not a connected toothbrush, so there is no application to configure the brush and its behavior. Battery charging is also different, Oclean has opted for USB charging. The brush is therefore only configurable from the buttons placed on its handle.

The handle and the base are both equipped with a magnet, the toothbrush must therefore not be placed in a base or a container, which avoids dirtying the surface where the brush is placed.

The brushes are always of as good quality as the previous ones, it is a constant here at Oclean, they are brushes of the Dupond Diamond type. The brushes that I have been able to test so far are compatible with each other. They are designed to be used for approximately 3 months but this may vary depending on how many times you use it daily.

The brush is attached to the same type of mechanism as the other brushes at Oclean, it is this metal rod that generates the vibrations towards the brush. It is a Maglev type motor that can generate up to 80,000 movements (42,000 vibrations per minute). In terms of noise, we are below 45 dB like the Elite X Pro.

Recharging is done from below, you just need to associate a USB C cable and a charger (not delivered with the box).

The screen is made up of three buttons, a button for switching on and triggering cleaning, a button for selecting the type of cleaning and a button for the intensity. I will return to these points later in this article.

Battery life

The manufacturer's site does not mention anything for the battery while the battery has often been a strength of Oclean products. With the Oclean Elite X Pro, I could last more than a month on a charge and with the Ocean Flow I had several months of autonomy. This new model is rather close to the autonomy of an Elite X Pro but I have the impression that the autonomy is slightly lower. The autonomy of a toothbrush is more difficult to measure than that of a telephone because the autonomy extends much more over time and I do not systematically record the time of use to have an exact measurement. For the charging time, on the other hand, it takes between 3 and 4 hours.

Use

oclean x10 test review avis recensione prueba opinion beoordeling 28.jp

Using the brush is very simple, here we are closer to an Ocean Flow than an Elite X Pro. The main button turns on the toothbrush. Then there are two buttons that look like volume + and - buttons. The top button can choose the cleaning mode, there are 5: cleaning, polishing, bleaching, massage, sensitive. Each mode will modify the number of vibrations and the orientation of these on the brush because the brush is able to perform movements on all axes. The difference is noticeable when you put the brush in your mouth. The last button is used to set the intensity of the selected mode between 1 and 5.

This brush management system is very well designed, it allows you to easily switch from one mode to another without having to go through an application, but since everything has been preconfigured, you can no longer customize the brush like with the Elite X Pro.

Efficacy

Despite the evolution of toothbrushes towards connected objects, the main mission remains the same, so the essential question is whether this toothbrush is effective. I mainly use the "cleaning" mode which offers the most powerful brushing, it is felt in the firmness of the vibrations. This brushing mode seems more powerful than the one I use on the Elite version without hurting my gums, so this toothbrush has a level of efficiency equivalent or even superior to the Elite version which was already at the top of my list. personal ranking. I find that the other modes are more anecdotal because the mode for whitening teeth, for example, will not magically give you white teeth. The massage mode is good for the gums, but who takes the time to massage the gums in addition to brushing the teeth?

Conclusion/Opinion

The Oclean X10 is the third toothbrush from the Oclean brand that I have tested and this is the third time that I have come to a positive conclusion. The Oclean X10 takes up many strengths of previous models such as brushing efficiency or battery life and for the majority of users, this will be more than enough because after all it is the main mission of a brush. teeth.

Will I replace my Oclean X Pro Elite to replace it with this one? No, for me the Elite version is still superior to the X10 for several reasons. Elite version can be customized, you can choose working mode and working time. With the X10 you can no longer choose the duration, the brush stops after 2 minutes whereas I usually brush for 3 minutes. Sometimes you can extend brushing if the brush feels you haven't brushed all areas of your mouth, but that's really something I missed on the X10. The position of the buttons is also not optimal because while manipulating the brush, it happened to me several times to press the buttons by accident.

The position of the screen is more or less the same on all Oclean models but I think they should maybe consider putting it on the other side of the brush because if you brush your teeth in front of a mirror, you're only going to see the screen when you're brushing the bottom of the top teeth and so it's not convenient to see where you are at.

Strengths:

Brushing efficiency
Ease of use
Battery life
Noise level

Weaknesses:

Not customizable
2 minute brushing
Position of buttons
